Marian A. Shirin
Marian Shirin, 79 years young, has spent the last 50 years in New Mexico. Receiving a Bachelors Degree in Biology from Tufts U in Medford, Massachusetts and later, a Masters degree in Community and Regional Planning from UNM in Albuquerque paved a path for her to work in City Planning for Santa Fe. After spending 21 years in the City of Santa Fe Planning Department, she retired and began the pursuit of artistic knowledge. Marian studied a variety of mediums including watercolor, ceramics, printmaking, and oil painting from select artist mentors and art programs both local and abroad, including a seven-week period at Marshutz School of Drawing and Painting Aix-en-Provence, France!
The shows that started it all first took place in La Colle sur Loup France, and later, in Columbus Ohio. Marian decided to open a Studio Gallery in Santa Fe, giving her the space to make and show her expressive paintings, and has since displayed four shows of her work. In 2022, Marian joined the Northern New Mexico Fine Arts & Crafts guild, participating in the juried summer show series, and has continued to show with the NNMFACG summer shows in the current 2023 series.
